Ages 4 – 8: July 11th – August 31st, Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Ages 9 – 14: July 11th -August 31st, Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
CrossFit Kids (CFK) is for any child 4 – 14 years old who is excited to come move and play and is ready to listen a little in order to have a whole lot of fun! CFK is not just watered down CrossFit, though it shares the hallmark of modification and scalability that makes CrossFit so unique. Children’s physiological, social and psychological needs and motivations are different from adults. The programming and implementation of CFK reflect these differences. Involvement in organized athletics can provide many important lessons for children, but also requires them to repeat specialized movement patterns to be successful. CFK aim is to bring sound, safe and effective functional whole body movement back to children. Kids classes will run for 8 weeks from July 11th through August 31st, 2017 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Ages 4-8 will meet from 9:00 – 10:00 am T/Th.  Ages 9 – 14 will meet from 10:00 – 11:00 am T/Th.  Coached by Courtney Walker.

Half summer (any 4 weeks): $80

Coach Courtney believes CrossFit Kids is a great program for children to have fun while getting some exercise, building body awareness, and developing self confidence. Courtney has over 10 years of experience coaching children. She was a gymnast for over 20 years and began coaching gymnastics (a long time ago) in high school.  She started coaching the CrossFit Kids program at San Francisco CrossFit in 2012 because she loves working with children and she loves CrossFit.  After moving to Portland in December, she’s excited to coach CrossFit Kids at CFV this summer.


What is CrossFit Kids?
CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is CrossFit!  Geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population, it is a way to make exercise functional and fun at the same time.  Click here to read more about the CrossFit Kids program.

What can my child expect from CrossFit Kids Fort Vancouver?

  • Fun! Exercise is fun, not work. With a variety of skills and games, your child will find that exercise is something to look forward to. The games and skills we work on are similar to any type of exercise your child may do on a playground or in everyday life.
  • Nutrition! Your child will learn about making the right nutritional choices for themselves. Food is our fuel and your child will learn about the types of foods their body needs to be healthy.
  • Increase in cognitive development! Studies continue to show that the more we move the better our cognitive development. The way we move and the way we think are one and not separate. “Motor function is as crucial to some areas of cognition as it is to physical movement.” – Dr. John Ratey.
  • Positive environment! CrossFit creates an encouraging atmosphere for you child with reassuring words and great energy. All exercises are scaled to the ability of the child, building confidence.
