I remember the moment like it was yesterday: I was sitting on a giant tire in the Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Australia after the Pacific Team had just won the 2017 CrossFit Invitational on their home turf. Like everyone else in the building and many CrossFitters all over the globe, we waited together in suspense as CrossFit Games Director Dave Castro led up to the “big announcement.”

NUMBER 10!
Finally, he shared the news: future CrossFit Games teams would consist of 4 athletes instead of 6, and the Northwest and Canada West regions would be combining with Northern and Southern California to form the West Coast Region.
At that moment last November on the opposite side of the planet, I didn’t know what our 2018 team would look like or even whether or not I would personally be on it. All I knew is that if CrossFit Fort Vancouver was going to qualify for a record-setting 10th consecutive CrossFit Games, it would take a monumental effort and a lot of things were going to have to go right.
Fast forward to the start of summer and that’s exactly what happened! Jess and Roo decided they wanted to compete for a spot on the team one more time and make a run at number 10. After anchoring the Farm Team a year ago, Nate rose to the challenge and earned his first trip to the CrossFit Games. Thankfully, these fit friends of mine brought me along for the ride! Even though we finished tied for 7th in the West Coast Region's first combined Open, we were able to bring home a 3rd place podium spot from Del Mar, CA last month. We’ll be leaving for Madison, WI on July 29th for the 2018 CrossFit Games.
Many of you have asked how you can help support the team this year and we want to let you know you already have! Being surrounded every day by a positive group of humble and hard-working people that care about each other a lot makes training and competing easy. Representing the CrossFit Fort Vancouver community at Regionals and the Games is an honor and a privilege that we are all grateful for and do not take for granted for a second. Whatever the outcome of the CrossFit Games is this year, you can bet that we are all in and excited to represent this extended family from Vancouver, WA to the very best of our ability.
For those of you interested in supporting our trip to Madison financially, there are four ways to participate.
1. Purchase a limited-edition CFV 10 Year T-shirt and wear it proudly!
To commemorate year 10, we will do one production of these shirts. You can add your name and size to the list here or on the wall in the gym. If you’re from out of the area and would like to have one shipped, please email your size and address to crossfitfortvan@gmail.com. Orders are due by Friday, June 22nd and will be available in the gym for pick-up or shipped by July 16th.
2. Participate in the Silent Auction Fundraiser!
Bidding will be open in the gym from July 9th – 16th. Bidding closes the evening of July 16th at 6:30 PM. Thanks to the generosity of the CFV community, we already have a ton of awesome auction items available. If you have an idea for an item or service that would make a good addition, please let us know or bring it into the gym by July 9th. Otherwise, happy bidding and good luck!
3. Attend the Silent Auction Dinner!
Dinner will be served on July 16th starting at 5:30 PM and going until everyone eats. On the menu is a catered Taco Bar courtesy of Foodē Cafe and Catering thanks to owners Joey Nutting and Joél Nehm. Cost is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. To help us get an accurate headcount, please register here no later than July 11th.
4. In case options 1 - 3 don't align with your schedule, you can always make a donation!
We hope that you find value in sporting a CFV 10-Year T-shirt and/or participating in the Silent Auction, and we really hope the ENTIRE CFV community, family, and friends join us for dinner on the 16th, but we know that won’t be an option for absolutely everyone. If you want to make a donation to the cause, you can enter a custom amount on the Dinner registration page or select a donation amount here.
Our goal is to cover the cost of housing and transportation for the CrossFit Fort Vancouver team during this year’s CrossFit Games. Thank You all for your generosity and support!
