Justin gives both his parents long hugs, but the person he wants to hug the most is not there. His coach, Adam Neiffer, is waiting for him in the tunnel. Justin plows through it and tackles him wordlessly. After a few seconds, the two take a step back and grab each other’s shoulders. They stand like that in the middle of the tunnel, grinning at each other. A full minute goes by before either of them can speak. “I can’t believe it,” Justin says, running his hands through his mullet. “It worked, man.”
